Exam Pattern
 
From the year 2018 the UPSC Engineering Services Examination format has changed. There will be Stage I, Stage II and Stage III in the examination. The details of each Stage is mentioned below:
 
Stage I: Prelimnary stage (Objective Type papers)
 
PAPER 1 GENERAL STUDIES & ENGINEERING APTITUDE (COMMON TO ALL CANDIDATES) 2 HOURS, 200 MARKS
PAPER 2 ENGINEERING DISCIPLINE : SPECIFIC BRANCH 3 HOURS, 300 MARKS
  QUALIFYING MARKS TO BE DECIDED BY UPSC TOTAL = 500 MARKS

Stage II: Mains stage (Conventional Type papers)

PAPER 1 ENGINEERING DISCIPLINE : SPECIFIC BRANCH- paper 1 3 HOURS, 300 MARKS
PAPER 2 ENGINEERING DISCIPLINE : SPECIFIC BRANCH- paper 2 3 HOURS, 300 MARKS
  QUALIFYING MARKS TO BE DECIDED BY UPSC TOTAL = 600 MARKS

Stage III: Personality test - 200 marks 

  • Only candidates qualifying in Stage I will be allowed to sit for Stage II papers
  • Only candidates qualifying in Stage I+Stage II will be allowed to sit for Stage III Personality Test
  • Only candidates qualifying in Stage I+Stage II+Stage III will be considered for Final Merit List. MARKS SECURED IN STAGE I OBJECTIVE PAPERS WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
How is the discipline maintained in the course?
 
As we are not meeting you on a day to day basis, maintaining discipline and a sense of order is very important in the course. For this, all the students in the course are advised to follow the regimen and schedule shared with them. Specific changes in their pace of study and schedule can be made on request and after consideration from the course instructors. Matters of non-compliance, misbehaviour, agressive behaviour, deliberate indiscipline in following the course schedule will be strictly dealt with and can result in expulsion from the course in worst cases. Expulsion from the course will result in revoking of course access, deletion from support groups and active course communication. If a student is expelled from the course based on above mentioned cases, he/she will not be entitled to request for a refund. Reinstating of student in the course will only be done as per discretion of the instructors.
